CSR

(Inter-)national Corporate Social Responsibility is since many years an integral part of our Holding organization, so both in The Netherlands as well in Kenya. It's BCSK's mission to make a contribution to a better world. Our vision on reliablity and continuity forms the solid basis for this.

The sustainable development of our business activities is our drive within CSR. Sustainable developments in which social, ecological, economic and cultural aspects are in dynamic harmony. BCS conducts policy within all these subjects and, if necessary, implements quarterly evaluations in order to maximize the contribution to an optimal balance between people, the environment, the market and society.

BCS has implemented this policy by (e.g.):

• People are important to BCSK. We follow (inter)national guidelines and treat and approach everyone with respect. Equal rights, anti-discrimination, anti-corruption and anti-child labour, for example, are of paramount importance to us;
• BCSK applied up-to-date technology that, where possible, meets all requirements and standards that we even applied in our facilities in The Netherlands;
• Our coldstore use an ammonia (NH3) cold storage system, instead of the in Kenya currently widely applied Freon systems. This is a novelty in the local market that should set new standards as Freon is already forbidden in Europe;
• Our equipment is serviced under maintenance contracts and is kept safe and in top condition;
• Investing in an automatic controlled cooling system residual heat for higher energy efficiency;
• The application of energy-efficient LED lighting in storage and office;
• Adequate- and repeatedly trainings for all employees;
• Using electrically powered transport for moving goods internally so there are no harmful gas emissions and goods suffer no loss of quality.
